A ‘set’ is disc-jockey speak for a session at the turntables.
This is a set of dances using new dance forms – a reinvented contemporary dance suite consisting of five short contrasting dance movements written as concert pieces for soprano saxophone and piano

Written in collaboration with talented and lively saxophone player Sarah Field, Spinning a Set was premiered by Sarah and pianist Simon Lepper at Cheltenham

"Wittily introduced by the composer, these began with a powerful opening movement, which was followed by a playful, skittish second dance. The set culminated in a breathless mini-finale which like the rest of the piece, never sounded trivial or banal, but seemed to refuse to take itself too seriously either."
