coffee klatch
A casual social gathering for coffee and conversation.
The conversations and chemistry between three friends during five different coffee klatches are depicted in this trio for flute, piano and percussion.
The 5 klatches:
• sudden silences
• being stylish
• point labouring
• holiday fantasy
• blather
This trio for flute, piano and percussion was written to please and entertain audiences not used to contemporary music and not expecting to hear any! This is my musical language at its most light and obvious.
All of the five klatches are composed in my dance forms.
Originally written to be programmed with Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Bernstein’s West Side Story (both arr. Adrian Sutcliffe) these five klatches are immediately attractive, engaging and fun.
