Feral Machine
4'29"
|
Fast moving chords grouped in short phrases give this piano duo non-stop physicality and lively muscular energy.
The four hands are ingeniously restricted to the extreme outer registers of the piano. This gives exciting clarity to the contrasting rhythmic processes between the two pianists as their music pulls brutally in and out of phase.
An example of my dance forms, this piano duo for four hands is a one mood in-your-face high energy piano duo.
Commissioned by contemporary piano duo Kate Ryder and David Appleton with funds from the
and premiered at The Warehouse, Theed Street, London, UK in March 2006.
Two pianists at one piano
“This piece really excites Kate and me with its energy and clarity. David approaches piano duo writing in a new way. Feral Machine is terrific fun to play and has both variety and inner cohesion.”
